My Revolution...

Revolution is an act of love.  As someone who traveled back and forth between the old world and new, it’s all personal.  Everyone matters.  Music and storytelling are languages that speak to EVERYONE and are catalysts for generating powerful transformations in the world.  As a Western woman with Eastern roots, my intention with my art is to bridge gaps, tell universal stories, and give voice to the unheard.  We are more alike than we are different and art is a powerful tool to build awareness and affect global change.

I am an AUDELCO-nominated actress that has worked with Ron Howard and Ed Zwick.  My most recent album, Puzzle, won the Akademia Music Award for Best Folk/Singer-Songwriter Album.  My screenplay, THE DIVIDE,  is a Sundance Producers Lab finalist and Honorable Mention Winner at the HBO Urbanworld Festival.  I am a thrice-selected writer at the Tribeca Performing Arts Center Writers Workshop.

Let's take on the world together.

Knee on Your Neck - Truth, Liberty, Justice.

New song about the urgent need for pervasive change.

About me:  Open on a little girl in Texas in cowboy boots dancing to country music with her pals, then cut to her mother dragging her around the villages of India so she could see how most people live and hear the folk songs there.  Back in Texas, she absorbs the Hindi film soundtracks her parents listen to in the car and at home, and at school her choir director trains her for classical music contests in Italian and German.  She gets into her school glee club and sings standards, musical theatre, pop and rock music.  She wins a country music contest,

a Bollywood cover band, tours with a church choir as a soprano, performs Sondheim and Bacharach in musicals, picks up the guitar and starts writing her own stuff.  What does the music sound like – true, individual, heartfelt!!

Woohoo!!

Acting led me to writing and I wrote THE DIVIDE.  As a writer, I was selected for the IRIS Screenwriting Lab at the Athena Film Festival.  THE DIVIDE won Honorable Mention in HBO’s UrbanWorld Film Festival, was a Sundance Producer's Lab Finalist, and most recently was a semi-finalist at the Atlanta Film Festival Screenwriting Contest.

I have been selected – FOUR TIMES - to be a actor/writer for the Tribeca Performing Arts Center's Writers in Performance Residency.
